| I use this program quite a bit, it helps out tremendously, but I was wondering if it is still being worked on, I noticed the new version has been in beta since 2007. Lemme know if anyone is still alive at halfdone. |

| Yeah, I'm still around but my new job has been keeping me very busy and I haven't touched the code in a while. Also I'm moved to IT work so I personally don't use UKD as much as I use to. I'll see if I can come up with some time to continue working on it. Thanks. |

Dear Catfish:
Just thought you'd be tickled to hear that your program works fine on every Windows 7 installation I've tried it on. The Zhangduo rip-off--loved your story on the site BTW and had noticed the overlap well after the fact--works on only about half of the systems I've tried it on with Windows 7, and simply goes off into la-la land with no error messages, no event log entries, or any other signs to mark its failure.
Go figure!

| Yeah, I tried it on Win7 beta too. Although it shows the categories in a leet-speak way. Are you seeing that too? |

Gibberish is how I interpreted it, or rather probably Unicode improperly rendered. I'm guessing that once you figure out what character set they're using it will be a pretty trivial fix. But the data's still good, and it was still able to point me in the right direction on the unknown device front.
But most interesting: this leetspeak phenomenon doesn't show up on the first run of the program. My memory isn't what it used to be but I didn't see the garbling until the second time I ran the program.
Thanks for responding!

Heya Catfish,
I just had to chirp up and tell you that I find this program essential to the support work I do. I'd be very sorry to hear that development has stopped.
I understand that you are busy etc. If you ever do decide to drop development, would you be able to recommend another program that does the work? I've kept my eye open for such a thing, but have yet to see anything that comes close to doing the job, never mind replacing UKD. |
